THE THIRD EAR MUSIC

The Third Ear Music is a project that resists simple definitions—much like the improvisation from which it emerged. Between 2014 and 2022, under this name (though not always formally), events of varying scale and form were realized: concerts, intuitive gatherings, sessions involving the audience, and loose meet-ups of musical nomads. What united them was the need to act here and now, beyond genre, convention, and institution. The name was taken, with the author’s consent, from a radio programme by Henryk Palczewski.

The project’s beginnings lie in spontaneous activities within the milieu of the Lublin-based band Tatvamasi, led by Grzegorz Lesiak. These were semi-private, often unplanned meetings, arising from the need for collective creation free from imposed frameworks. Over time, the improvisations began to take on a life of their own, and a community formed around them—one open to music not subordinated to formal structures.

The project gradually became independent and now operates as an autonomous creative platform within the L.A.S. Listening and Sounding Foundation, co-founded by Grzegorz Lesiak and Piotr Damasiewicz. The foundation provides the organisational and ideological framework for the initiative, whose spirit—unchanged—remains free.
