An Evening That Continued Beyond the Stage

The concert was organized by Grzegorz Lesiak on behalf of the L.A.S. Listening and Sounding Foundation in cooperation with the Centre for Culture in Lublin and Lublin Jazz. The project was co-financed by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage through the Music programme, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance, with media support from Jazz Forum, JazzKultura, JazzPress, Radio Lublin, Radio Centrum, Radio Free, and Dziennik Wschodni. Free admission allowed both long-time followers of the series and first-time listeners to experience the event together. After the performance, the evening naturally continued with informal conversations between the audience and the artists, extending the spirit of dialogue beyond the stage. Visitors also had the opportunity to purchase the performers' recordings, exchange impressions, and reflect on the experience together, bringing the evening to a close in an atmosphere of openness, inspiration, and a shared passion for contemporary improvised music. Sound, Electronics, and Dance as One Living Organism

The stage brought together Tobias Klein on bass clarinet, Andrius Dereviancenko on tenor saxophone, Krzysztof Kasprzyk on soprano saxophone, and Mikołaj Pacholczyk, who created the electronic sound environment. An equally essential role was played by contemporary dancer Anna Maria Karabela, whose performance added a compelling visual and physical dimension to the evening. The dialogue between movement and sound evolved into a multidimensional artistic experience, inviting the audience to engage not only through listening but also through visual perception, bodily expression, and the shared intensity of the live moment.

An International Collaboration and a Premiere Created in the Moment

This edition welcomed artists connected with Amsterdam's renowned improvisation scene through Trytone Collective, who joined Polish musicians and a contemporary dancer to create a one-of-a-kind premiere performance based entirely on free improvisation. Bringing together different cultural perspectives, artistic experiences, and creative sensibilities, the ensemble crafted an immersive performance in which music, electronics, and contemporary dance seamlessly intertwined. Without a predefined score or choreography, every sound, movement, and artistic decision emerged organically, shaped by the energy of the moment and the performers' constant interaction with one another.

More Than a Decade of Creative Encounters and Artistic Freedom

The sixteenth edition of Music of the Third Ear (Muzyka Ucha Trzeciego) once again demonstrated that improvised music remains one of the most vibrant and unpredictable forms of contemporary artistic expression. For more than a decade, the series has provided a platform where artists representing diverse aesthetics, backgrounds, and musical languages come together to create unique performances rooted in spontaneity, attentive listening, and genuine artistic dialogue. Rather than witnessing the performance of a predetermined repertoire, the audience experienced a creative process unfolding in real time—a quality that continues to define the essence and lasting value of the series.
