An Improvisational Night Captured on Film
Without a doubt, this was one of those concerts that Zielona Góra will be talking about for months to come. The artists delivered a gripping show packed with raw energy, effortless jazz-fusion freedom, and dynamic musical dialogues that completely spellbound the local crowd. The magic and passion of the entire night were beautifully captured on camera. Acclaimed photographer Jerzy Malicki took the fantastic, high-energy photos from this unforgettable evening, perfectly freezing the onstage vibe in time.
Sonic Magic at Piekarnia Cichej Kobiety
The concert took place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, finding its perfect home inside the atmospheric walls of Zielona Góra's cult venue, Piekarnia Cichej Kobiety (The Quiet Woman's Bakery). On stage, the band leader was joined by a stellar, multi-piece lineup of instrumentalists who together built a thick, hypnotic wall of sound. Showing off their unique talents were Justyna Miguła on violin and vocals, Grzegorz Lesiak on guitar, Krzysztof Kasprzyk on saxophone and electronics, Roland Abreau on bass, and a phenomenal rhythm section featuring Thomas Celis Sanchez on percussion and Ignacy Caputa on drums.
Piotr Damasiewicz’s Tribute to the Electric Era
The main highlight of this exceptional evening was a concert by Piotr Damasiewicz’s project, "Tribute to Electric Miles." This leading Polish trumpeter and pianist, who fronts the band Origins, took listeners on a wild journey back to the most experimental era of Davis' career. The musicians boldly revived the spirit of the American icon’s pioneering projects, where he famously blended pop, rock, and jazz into a revolutionary fusion sound. On stage, Damasiewicz didn't just play brilliant trumpet lines; he also took the reins on the synthesizer, giving the whole performance a spacey, modern edge.
A Multimedia Intro to a Musical Genius
The event kicked off with a fascinating multimedia presentation by Andrzej Winiszewski titled "All Faces of Miles Davis." The author gave the audience a deep dive into the evolution of this legendary artist’s work, setting the perfect mood for the musical thrills ahead. Hosted smoothly by the well-known and respected journalist Tomasz Tłuczkiewicz, the gathering was part of a grand celebration honoring the trumpeter’s 100th birthday. The entire initiative came together thanks to close collaboration with the Zielona Góra Jazz Association and financial support from the City of Zielona Góra.
