Another Important Chapter in Third Ear Music
The May event once again confirmed the distinctive character of the Third Ear Music series, now operating within the framework of the L.A.S. Listening and Sounding Foundation. The project not only connects the local artistic community with the international improvised music scene but also creates conditions for the emergence of unique and ephemeral artistic forms. The evening at the Cultural Centre in Lublin became another opportunity to experience improvisation as an open, dynamic, and unpredictable process.
Organized by the L.A.S. Listening and Sounding Foundation and Grzegorz Lesiak. Partners: Cultural Centre in Lublin and Lublin Jazz. The project was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage under the “Music” programme, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
Three Guitars, Three Languages of Improvisation
The second premiere set of the evening was presented by Guillermo Celano, Michał Dymny, and Grzegorz Lesiak. The guitar trio showcased a remarkably diverse approach to improvisation, combining elements of composition, free expression, and sonic experimentation. Each musician contributed a unique artistic language to the collective space, and their dialogue unfolded in a dynamic and organic manner. The evolving sound structures led the audience through successive tensions, contrasts, and unexpected turns, creating a rich and engaging listening experience.
Between Voice, Electronics, and Breath
The first part of the evening featured a duo performance by Oğuz Büyükberber and Sebastian Madejski. The artists engaged in a multidimensional sonic conversation in which voice, electronics, and the sounds of wind instruments continuously shifted their roles and meanings. Delicate textures intertwined with more intense passages, while improvised forms developed in unpredictable directions. The performance captivated listeners through its subtle exploration of timbre and space, revealing the vast possibilities that emerge when two distinct artistic personalities meet in a shared creative environment.
On May 9, the Chamber Hall of the Cultural Centre in Lublin once again became a space for open musical dialogue. The fifteenth edition of the Third Ear Music series brought together artists from Turkey, Argentina, and Poland, who met on stage to create sound narratives unfolding in the moment. The event marked another chapter in a project that has been evolving for more than a decade, consistently fostering a platform for contemporary improvised music. The audience was invited to witness a creative process rooted in spontaneity, attentive listening, and the courage to transcend aesthetic boundaries.
